Habits and Addictions

As well as the obvious smoking and weight management issues which are dealt with separately, many people have habits or addictions that they would love to change.

Sometimes you might not want to eliminate a bad habit, but to introduce a good one, such as taking up a sport, cooking healthy meals, making sure you have time to relax or introducing something fun into your life.

Habits are not always a bad choice, but when they become compulsive, then it's time to act. It's nice to have new or expensive clothes but if it means that you are getting into debt, it may be time to re-evaluate before it spirals out of control. It's satisfying to have a clean and tidy home, but if you spend all of your waking hours on the task and it prevents you from inviting friends or family over, it may be a compulsion.

Hypnotherapy can help to develop new, contructive habits but can also help you confront the detrimental ones. Maybe the social pleasure of having a few drinks with friends has turned into a need for alcohol every night or an excessive amount several times a week. Stress or depression could have made you turn to drugs to deal with the pressure. Maybe your relationships are under strain because you spend too much time watching TV or playing computer games on your own.

The list of 'maybes' really is endless, but even if you don't choose Concept Hypnotherapy to help you, please use our STAY model to:
  • Stop - pause a while to consider your habits or addictions
  • Think - how do your addictions affect yourself and others
  • Act - decide what action you need to take
  • You - look forward to the positive effects, a new you
