How Hypnotherapy Works

Hypnosis and Hypnotherapy

Hypnosis is a completely natural state which creates a feeling of calmness and relaxation. You pass through the state a couple of times a day without even noticing - each time you go to sleep, and each time you awake, but channelling that energy is difficult on your own.

While in hypnosis, you cannot be forced to do anything you don't want to which is why it's important to be certain that you really want to make changes to your life. This can seem contradictory if your only experience is of stage hypnosis, but even in those cases, every volunteer is a willing participant, screened for maximum entertainment value and will want to perform - however, they will also be aware of the situation and will never do anything which is against their morals or beliefs.

The aim of hypnotherapy is to act on your wish to carry out, refrain from or change a behaviour, action or symptom; to introduce beneficial change and access inner potential.

Hypnosis is a powerful tool and consequently can help with a vast range of problems or issues that may initially seem insurmountable.

Suggestion Therapy

Hypnosis is the system which the experienced hypnotherapist uses to introduce a comfortable and tranquil state where suggestibility is heightened. It addresses the power of the subconscious mind, which governs the instinctive fight or flight mechanism, to create beneficial and more appropriate reactions to situations or stimuli.

This type of therapy works well with stopping smoking, dealing with exam nerves or pain management.

Hypno-analysis

Hypnoanalysis gets to the root of the problem, whether psychological or emotional. Under hypnosis, you will be free to express those emotions and experiences which may have been bottled up or repressed for years, allowing you to become free from debilitating issues.

This type of therapy works well with depression, guilt, grief or abuse.
