Giving up Smoking

Just because you smoke doesn't make you a bad person. Although smoking is becoming less socially acceptable, it still often begins through peer pressure - a wish to fit in, or a perception that you are somehow missing out.

Sometimes the most unlikeliest people begin to smoke - the child who hates their parents smoking, the girl/boy friend who starts to smoke to deter their partner from carrying on with their habit.

If you can remember your first smoking experience, can you remember how you felt? It's more than likely that you didn't even enjoy it, but as you forced yourself to continue, the habit grew and you began to see it as pleasurable or just 'normal'.

Nowadays, everyone knows that smoking is bad for your health but once the habit has become ingrained it's very difficult to give up. Hypnotherapy offers you a helping hand to becoming a non smoker.

Because everyone is different, Concept Hypnotherapy has a tailored approach to 'Quit Smoking' sessions. Together we will establish exactly what it is that prevents you from giving up, deal with the fear of living without cigarettes and combat the withdrawal symptoms.

At the start of our session we will discuss the drivers which make you smoke. It might help to give some thought about the most common reasons and whether they apply to you:

Stress I lead a busy and stressful life and find it difficult to think about stopping smoking right now
Confidence I feel more confident when I smoke
Fear of Failure I really want to give up but have never tried in case I fail
Relaxation Smoking makes me relax more easily
Trauma I have recently experienced a traumatic event and rely on smoking to get me through
Boredom I reach for the cigarettes when I've not much else to do
Socialising I only smoke when I go out
Concentration Smoking helps me to focus on my work or studies

We will then explore the reasons why you want to give up and use hypnotherapy to reinforce that message to make the process as easy as possible without substituting tobacco for something else.

Very few hypnotherapy practitioners will also offer a free post-smoking session as stopping smoking is effective in one treatment in the vast majority of cases. Here at Concept Hypnotherapy, we feel that you deserve a treat for your progress and offer a completely free follow up. You can choose from a reinforcement session, self hypnosis instruction, general feel-good relaxation, confidence building, or something else.

The free session must be taken within one calendar month of the initial treatment.
