Is fear or lack of confidence is holding you back from performing as well as you know you can?
 
Often as a child you are without fear, you don't consider rejection, injury, winning or losing, you don't have any concept of what other people think. You may just want to participate, enjoy and be the best you can be with the thrill of winning being an added bonus. Would you like to get that feeling back?
 
Maybe you've had a bad experience - a fall, or an injury that has now healed, but you still feel nervous just in case it happens again.
 
You may even recognise that the incident was a one off, a complete accident, never likely to be repeated but no matter how hard you try to forget it or put it to the back of your mind, you can't.
 
Maybe you want to get back that winning streak or just want to take part and enjoy the sport that you love, or once loved.
 
You may even begin to think that there's something wrong with you. Why can't you just 'do it'?
 
The good news is that there is nothing wrong with you and this is a very common problem.
 
Your subconscious sees everything in black and white. It just wants to help; to keep you out of danger and stay safe, to never put you in the position where you may fail, or fall, or be afraid. It's very effective in carrying out this protective role, often too effective. 
 
On a conscious level, you introduce logic and reason - you tell yourself that you've done it before and been successful, you love doing it, you had fun, you felt wonderful, it was good for your health, you made loads of friends or had lots of social interaction. But it's still very difficult to over-rule the fear, particularly if it's deep-rooted or cumulative.
